Walk on The Wild Side
The challenges that mount against men’s identity in today’s world are entirely new and something few of us have ever faced. Between busy careers, building our marriages, leading our families or raising our sons and daughters, the chaos of life wages a silent war on the fullness of who we, as men, were designed to be. Mewalo (Men’s Extended Weekend Adventure Liberation Organization) was founded under the banner of a self-effacing clunky acronym, but with incredible substance. It is designed to provide guys with one extended week of liberation through adventure. Founded in 1996 by young men from a church outside of St. Louis, Mewalo both has become the rallying cry for childhood friends who wanted to journey with each other through life—and an ever-evolving group of fathers and sons who build new relationships together through adventure.
“MEWALO is like a sea anchor
to the soul.”

At its core, Mewalo is an organic-invitation-driven event that occurs annually in mid to late July. Over the course of 20+ years and over a dozen different destinations, the alumni group of Mewalo continues to gather each year, providing spiritual formation, time in the wilderness, building up by a brotherhood of fathers and sons and adventure around every turn.
Connecting through shared experience
We don’t take ourselves too seriously. Though we love substance, part of Mewalo is cutting loose from the everyday so we can rediscover who we are. Mewalo has never been a closed group of guys. Instead, we use organic invites and curation to build a dynamic that is both fun and uplifting.
